I have been given an Activation code - what do I do with it?
Typically a builder or specifier will create a Pre-Approved warranty to hand over to the product owner on completion of a building or installation of a product. The owner then needs to create an account for the Warranty Estimator and Management System, selecting the option that they will be the owner of the product. When they log-into the system they will be presented with a screen showing three buttons; Activate Warranty, Create Warranty and Create Pre-Approved Warranty. By clicking onto the dark blue coloured Activate Warranty button a pop-up screen will prompt you for the Activation code. This is the 8 digit (alphanumeric) code generated when a Pre-Approved warranty is created. The owner should check the details that have been used to generate the warranty before agreeing to the terms and conditions and activating the warranty. If everything is correct, the owner will then be presented with the link to download the warranty certificate (a pdf file of the certificate will also be sent to the e-mail account that has been used to create the account).

What can I expect if I create a profile?
Within the Warranty Estimator and Management System, users have three options for interacting with warranties:
- Warranty Estimator - This simple tool allows users to alter some of the variables that are considered by BlueScope when reviewing a warranty application. This tool provides visual feedback via a coloured bar at the bottom of the screen that indicates whether an application is likely to receive a warranty from BlueScope.
- Pre-Approved Warranties* - When considering embarking on a construction project, this function aims to relieve some of the stress involved in deciding which products to use by providing indicative warranty periods for a wide range of scenarios. Users may enter basic design and environmental details relating to their project and the WEMS will provide documentation outlining the warranty that may be expected for selected products.
- Warranties* - Once a building project has been completed, users are able to apply for material warranties offered by BlueScope. These warranties may be applied for by users providing basic design and environmental details relating to their project.

What is the difference between an "warranty" and a "pre-approved warranty"
BlueScope will only issue a warranty for material that has been installed in an approved end use. As such, no warranties are issued until all materials have been installed. These are known as warranties. However, sometimes a customer wishes to know what warranty support will be received for different products or designs that are being considered. As the customer is still at the design stage and has not purchased or installed any material and indication of warranty can be provided, ie a "Pre-Approved Warranty".
The Pre-Approved Warranty, however, is based upon the specific information provided by a customer and is immediately voided if any of those details change by the time the materials are installed on site. A Pre-Approved Warranty can be updated at any time prior to the installation of material. The Pre-Approved Warranty offer is valid for a period of 18 months.

How do I apply for a Pre-Approved Warranty or Warranty?
To create a warranty or expected warranty, simply click on the "Create a Warranty" or "Create a Pre-Approved Warranty" from the My Warranties section of your profile. Alternatively, the create option is available from the Warranties page or the Pre-Approved Warranties page of your profile. These pages are accessible by clicking the link in the yellow navigation bar near the top of the screen.
The Warranty Estimator and Management System employs a step by step approach to guiding you through the application process. Along the way you will be asked a series of questions about the products you have selected, the design of your project and the environment surrounding its location.
Once the questions have been answered, you will be provided with advice that may take one of three forms:
- Approval - You will be issued with a BlueScope Steel Limited warranty or pre-approved warranty that outlines your rights and responsibilities with regard to your selected BlueScope product.
- Pending - For more complex warranty applications, it may take some time for your warranty to be assessed and actioned. Generally this will be no more than a day or two and may require us to contact you for further information.
- Denial - In some instances where inappropriate products have been selected for the specific environment or end-use you will be advised that No warranty will be available. The reasons as to why the request has been denied will also be provided.
At all times, users have the ability to question the warranty offer that has been made by BlueScope regarding a specific warranty or pre-approved warranty. However, users will need to provide a brief description outlining why the warranty should be reviewed.
Alternate Method for Creating a Warranty
When you create a Pre-Approved Warranty, you will be given an activation code. This code allows you to convert an expected warranty into a warranty without needing to re-enter all of the information.
To obtain the activation code, select review in the dropdown box adjacent to the Pre-Approved Warranty in your list of Pre-Approved Warranties.
Once you have the activation code, enter it into the appropriate area on the My Warranties page and then click "Activate". You will be asked to confirm that all information previously entered is still accurate and correct and will have opportunity to edit anything that has changed. Once satisfied, click the "Apply For Warranty" button to finish.

What can I do if I am not happy with my warranty offer?
If your request for warranty has been rejected and you are not satisfied with the reasons provided, or if you are not sastisfied with the warranty offer that has been provided, you will have the opportunity to request a review of the warranty for a period of 1 month after the submission of the original warranty.
Pre-approved Warranties - adjacent to each Pre-Approved Warranty in your profile is a dropdown box. By clicking the dropdown box and selecting "Request Review" you will be able to have your warranty offer manually reviewed.
Warranties - - adjacent to each warranty in your profile is a dropdown box. By clicking the dropdown box and selecting "Request Review" you will be able to have your warranty offer manually reviewed. Warranty offers will only be reviewed if satisfactory explanation can be provided as to the reason the warranty should be reviewed. Please allow up to a week for this process to complete.
